September 15th, 2008 Photoshop and drawingtablet This thing took too much time... It's another entry for Akeli's concept art contest. The general and other high ranking officers don't typically fight, which is why they get to wear pretty, but totally unpractical armor. They are also often of noble blood. This guy might even be royalty. His first layer of clothes is mostly made of expensive fabric. It can be worn underneath the armor, or can be worn on casual occasions. The second layer consists of actual, still more or less practical armor, with protective plate scales covering the throat, chest and belly. Mister general does have spurs, like his soldiers, but they're located too high up on the legs to actually be of any use in a fight. This is what most generals wear on the battle field. Finally, the last layer of bling is what he'd wear on victory parades, and such. It is totally unpractical as a suit of armor. Some really vain generals and admirals do wear this stuff on the battle field, but it's at their own risk. Some even wear what is known as the Mask of Tir-Yan, a helmet covering the eyes. The general's job on the battle field is basically to stand there, give orders and look pretty while doing so. |
