Chiaotzu is another one of those DBZ characters who fell behind at some point. The poor little guy gets a lot of hate because of it too, but honestly I think he's kind of intimidating.
Here's the thing. Contrary to what some folks say, he's not a midget, he's not a clown, and he's not a mime. He's most likely supposed to be a child Jiang Shi, which is a Chinese Vampire. Yeah, that's right. Undead. Probably explains why he doesn't seem to age one bit throughout the series, even though he's at least in his fifties by the end of DBZ.
Jiang Shi come out at night and like to feed on the life energy of other creatures. I'm told it tastes like slurpees.
Chiaotzu is also a powerful psychic, and can use those psychic powers to mess with your head or rearrange your vital organs for you. According to the Dragonball Wikia he can also convert that psychic energy into ki. That's a potentially limitless supply of energy right there (though, my theory is he probably cannibalizes most of his own energy).
Then there's that dead stare and the rigid pose.
He's an accomplished martial artist and a gifted mimic. Whatever you fire at him, he'll just shoot right back at you. And then kick your ass. While leeching your life energy.
Which tastes like slurpees.
I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't want to get on his bad side. With a little more development, this kid could have been some serious nightmare fuel, despite being one of the good guys.
