Subastion van der Wyck studied Pokémon tactics in Hoenn, in order to become one of the best Pokémon tacticians
in the world. During his studies, he heard rumors about some newly discovered Pokémon in the Sinnoh region.
Stories about a strong ice-grass type hybrid particularly piqued his interest, and Sub (as he prefers to be called)
decided he would go search for this Pokémon one day. There are also several other Pokémon he would really like to
catch. Sub also wants to meet other trainers and study their battle strategies. A study trip, financed by his school, gave him the perfect opportunity to accomplish his goals. His first stop was Kanto, where he stayed for several months. Now he intends to move on to Sinnoh itself. If there is time left, he'd like to explore other regions as well. Sub is calm and usually rather quiet. Loud people tend to unnerve him, but he'll try to remain polite for as long as possible. He is also quite anti-violence. This may seem odd, considering that he studies Pokémon battle tactics, but Sub doesn't see Pokémon battles as fighting. He sees it as a sport, which should be played as efficiently as possible, and he is convinced that a well played match between equal trainers who play by the rules will never end badly. Trivia: Sub has extensive knowledge about Pokémon and battling. His theoretical knowledge is quite possibly even greater than Sandy's, though his practical experience could still use some work. He has a PokéDex which contains a lot of information, which he can access if he ever needs to look something up. Sub is one of those people who does not give his Pokémon nicknames. As a character Sub is more or less based on a good friend of mine. | |

Zubat is Sub's first Pokémon. Sub never officially received a starter Pokémon from anyone. Instead he met
Zubat one day, outside Fortree City. Zubat probably should have evolved by now, but sometimes Pokémon just
don't evolve yet when they are supposed to. Even though Sub has stronger Pokémon, Zubat is still one of his
most reliable partners. He is also a very good natured and energetic Pokémon. Zubat is often seen outside of
his Pokéball and he likes to flutter about on his own to explore the area. Occasionally he will land on Sub's
shoulder or head to hitch a ride. Trivia: This character is based on one of the real Sub's Pokémon. |

Vulpix is one of Sub's more powerful Pokémon. Sub caught the little fox during one of his many training
excursions in Hoenn. Despite her cute looks, she is actually quite mature and experienced, both in life and
in battles. True to her serious nature, Vulpix will always give her all in battles and dislikes to lose. Most of the other Pokémon in Sub's team find her a little dull due to her seriousness, but Vulpix does not carry this trait to the extreme (as for instance Shiftry does). She has been known to occasionally relax and act crazy with her team members. Her hair is probably the only bit of Vulpix which is out of control, but she refuses to let anyone cut or trim it. Nobody knows how, but Vulpix' vision does not seem to be impaired by her thick, overhanging locks. Trivia: This character is based on one of the real Sub's Pokémon. |

Shiftry is currently Sub's most powerful Pokémon, and he knows it! Shiftry is a very confident Pokémon, which
means that even though he is a serious guy, he usually battles quite nonchalantly. Shiftry generally doesn't
go all out in fights, unless he happens to come across an opponent he considers worthy of undergoing his full
fighting capabilities. If he doesn't think the opponent is really worth his time, he will just mock them and
toy with them before landing one single, devastating blow, thus ending the fight rather abruptly. Even
fighting-types frequently undergo this kind of treatment. Sub caught Shiftry when he was a Nuzleaf and evolved him with a Leaf Stone soon after that. Ever since he evolved, Shiftry has become more difficult for Sub to manage. The grass-type is by no means disloyal to his trainer (in fact, he likes him quite a lot), but his arrogance sometimes makes him ignore Sub's orders. Shiftry can also be arrogant towards his team mates. Although he is never truly mean towards them, he does regard them as second-rate fighters and as rather worthless partners in a battle.
