Entry for: Pokémon Super Contests
Black Tourney: spectator round 6 (theme: 'Defeat the MC')
Entrants: Sandy Gano, Solaris and Candy
Opponent: -
Theme song: Link

The final round of the Black Tourney, now with epic theme song to celebrate the occasion! And it's shorter than my round 5 entry too, if only just.

Page 1: June 19th, 2010.
I'm particularly proud of this cover page, actually. I probably spent more time on it than I should have, but so be it. Why is Matt in there? Just wait and see. ;)

Page 2: June 20th, 2010.
I apologize for the fact that I'm uploading these pages as sketches. And for the fact that they're messy sometimes. I have to put the pedal to the metal here.

Quartz likes to cuddle.

Page 3: June 20th, 2010.
Solly was overdue for some payback...

Oh, and Ollie belongs to Claamchowder.

Page 4: June 21st, 2010.
It was only a matter of time before she'd start babbling about plans again...

Tons of cameos. Linqu, Arual's Charizard, Black Dragon, Junction, Sheepi, Anti, Enef, Kate, Concore, Jikan, Karuie, Fluna, Chief, Aka and Jenasu belong to their respective owners. Yes, I've finally grown tired of naming everyone. I'm sure you guys can backpaddle through my older entries and figure out who everyone is. ;)

Page 5: June 21st, 2010.
The cameos are judge Zing, Sara, BigBad and Isaac. You may notice that BB's jacket is missing. That's because I ritually burnt it unfortunately had to replace it with something far simpler, since BB will be in this entry a lot and his jacket was mocking me. MOCKING.

I also decided to give Isaac his old stinky-look back. Candy lifted the illusion from him in round 4, but I noticed that almost everybody else kept using the smelly version. So let's just say that in my entries he WAS cleaned up by Candy, but when Isaac was freed from the MC's control, the MC gave him his old look back as a "parting gift". And this time it's no illusion. The MC has a cruel sense of humor...

Page 6: June 28th, 2010.
This was supposed to be an epic cameo page, but that fell on its face quite quickly. I should've learned by now that tiny cameos = scribbly mess, especially when tired. And when your hand hurts... Ah well, if you see your character here, consider yourself credited.

Page 7: July 9th, 2010.
You gotta love Junction as a plot device. Dispensing knowledge left and right. Pretty useful, really.

Page 8: July 11th, 2010.
Oh look! He reproduces asexually. :3

Page 9: July 17th, 2010.
SURPRISE!

Page 10: July 18th, 2010.
The problem with these cameo pages is that they take forever to make, but I hope it's all worth it. :)

The BT is, as far as I can gather, supposed to be a bit like a video game, so with this page I'm going for that part right before the end boss fight, when you're supposed to chose the team you're gonna use to whoop his ass. In this case, the basement team consists of Sandy, BD, Aka, Kate, Linqu, Enef, Fluna, BB (that's why he had to lose the coat), Isaac and Junction I. Or Junction II, I'm not entirely certain. The rest of the crew gets to go to the attic. I really had to stop myself from bringing more people with me to the basement, but seeing how the attic MC is the stronger version, they need to have the largest and most powerful team, right?

Awww, smelly Isaac is not entirely welcome. In case anyone is wondering what he's on about, the MC apparently stole Isaac's candy. That just won't fly...

Page 11: July 19th, 2010.
Obligatory finalist cameos. Anne Louise and Calli look READY FOR BATTLE!!

Or not. Either way... Why those cards haven't gotten crumpled, I do not know.

Page 12: July 20th, 2010.
These panels were supposed to show everyone in each single team, but then I realized what a scribbly mess that would be. So instead I went with a few strategically chosen cameos. Team Attic looks much smaller because of it, but in reality I think it's almost twice as big as Team Basement.

Page 13: July 20th, 2010.
Speaking of droids, ED-209 isn't going with either team, because he's out of ammo he can't walk the stairs (up OR down). It's okay though, because he's been given an important mission: guard Annie's bike.

Page 14: July 20th, 2010.
Oooh, pretty lights...

Page 15: July 20th, 2010.
I sort of made BB the unofficial leader of Team Basement. Normally it might have been Athens, but he's hurting, so he's got enough to worry about. Why not Sandy? Well, she's not really the leader-type. In large groups she prefers to hang back a little. ;)

I'm also kinda shipping EnefxKate here. They stuck together after BD's group got separated in my round 4 entry, heheh.

Page 16: July 21st, 2010.
The light isn't normal, so the mask can come off for now.

Page 17: July 21st, 2010.
Yeah, but let's be honest, Athens. You could have seen that one coming.

By the way, they ARE still on the move. Even if it doesn't look that way.

Page 18: July 21st, 2010.
So much for plan A.

Is it just me, or does Isaac look as if he just went Super Saiyan?

Page 19: July 22nd, 2010.
Oh well. The element of surprise is overrated anyway.

Page 20: July 22nd, 2010.
Tarim's not trying to be mean here; quite the opposite, actually. But it just seems that even his friendly smiles end up looking like sadistic grins. Oh well... Must be his default facial expression, or something.

And why yes, of course Quartz is coming down that flight of stairs. Unaided, I might add. Don't ask what happened to the door though.

Page 21: July 22nd, 2010.
Ah yes... typical...

Page 22: July 27th, 2010.
Turns out the MC is actually a Sith, which is rather appropriate, really...

Considering there are always two of those...

Page 23: July 27th, 2010.
Silly Tarim, you can't eat that!

Page 24: July 28th, 2010.
Banter, banter...

Page 25: July 28th, 2010.
Hmm, this page smells of epic-sauce. I might have to redo this one in color some day.

Anyway, this page shows all the Pokemon on the side of our heroes. Starting at the top right corner and proceeding clockwise from there, we have: Steelix, Jolteon, Cacnea, Cacturne, Wartortle, Ivysaur, Sandslash, Arcanine, Blaziken, Hypno, Venusaur, Psyduck, Cherrim, Gligar, Metagross, Gulpin, Ninetales, Marill, Sceptile, Persian, Pachirisu and Scyther.

I'm just glad that not everybody has full 6-man teams. Heheh.

Page 26: July 28th, 2010.
RAWR!

Page 27: July 28th, 2010.
DOUBLE RAWR!!

Page 28: July 28th, 2010.
TRIPLE RAWR!!!

And of course Tarim tries to eat him anyway...

Page 29: July 29th, 2010.
And... you get. There's a lot of RAWR going on. But don't fret, there's also room for some tactics. Even though everybody is kind of blasting everything in that final panel. Let's just fix that little inconsistency by saying the the MC is so epicly OP that he is literally all over the place. Yes, that will do quite nicely as an excuse.

Moving on!

Page 30: July 29th, 2010.
That thing there in panel 2 is an explosion, not a shield. Just wanted to point that out.

Page 31: July 29th, 2010.
Throwing yourself in front of someone else; it's just common practice if you're one of Sandy's Pokemon. Apparently.

That said, at least Quartz is properly trained for the job.

Page 32: July 29th, 2010.
Quartz is a relatively high-level Steelix, EV-trained to be a tank, has the Sturdy ability, is experienced at taking hits and has such high defenses that he tends to sleep through most of his battles.

And the MC just took him out with one hit. If that doesn't put things into perspective, I don't know what does. XD

Page 33: July 30th, 2010.
This page took a lot longer to make than I thought it would...

Page 34: July 30th, 2010.
Future Sight... could that really work?

Page 35: July 30th, 2010.
Disobeying a direct order: another common practice for Sandy's Pokemon, apparently.

Page 36: July 31st, 2010.
I guess that wasn't supposed to happen.

Page 37: July 31st, 2010.
The future looks kind of... empty, doesn't it?

Page 38: July 31st, 2010.
The secret is that the MC ate the future.

Page 39: August 1st, 2010.
Oh boy...

Page 40: August 1st, 2010.
You know, I'm constantly playing epic movie scores on YouTube while drawing these pages. Epic battlefields? Yes please!

Page 41: August 1st, 2010.
Note to self: use a reference next time when drawing Metagross. Doing it from memory clearly isn't working for you.

On a related subject: maybe Surt has a plan?

Page 42: August 2nd, 2010.
You can be emo later, Candy.

Page 43: August 2nd, 2010.
I actually rather enjoy drawing this limbo environment.

Page 44: August 3rd, 2010.
Uh-oh...

Page 45: August 3rd, 2010.
Poor Surt got blasted in the face.

Page 46: August 3rd, 2010.
It is a lot easier on the eyes...

Page 47: August 3rd, 2010.
Sneakpeek's over, apparently...

Page 48: August 4th, 2010.
And she's back. Will it help the fight?

Page 49: August 4th, 2010.
Ugh, too many bust shots in this one... Ah well, let's try and guess everybody's thoughts in that final panel, shall we?

Sandy: Odd, I don't remember being clocked on the head...
Fluna: Hey, that axe looks familiar.
BD: Ugh, I think my wounds opened up again. I'm just not going to bother getting up for now.
Aka: Should I give her hat back now, or...
Psycho Aka: No!! Keep the hat! And the mask too! They will help me dominate the world!!! Mhuahahahahah!!
Aka: B-But... The hat... it talks to me...
BB: Why do I even bother lining up? My only Pokemon just got knocked out.
Isaac: Okay. Just move a little to the right. A bit more, and then I can just disappear behind BB's back. In time the MC will forget I was ever here!
Enef: Ugh, why does Isaac keep moving around? It's difficult enough already to hide behind his back!
Kate: Why is Enef pulling me to the side? What's the point?
Linqu: ...

I hope I got everybody's heights right. XD

Page 50: August 4th, 2010.
Fluna has a plan, maybe?

Page 51: August 5th, 2010.
Time to show off some more fonts.

Page 52: August 5th, 2010.
He has a short fuse, huh?

Page 53: August 5th, 2010.
Junction, what are you up to now?

Page 54: August 6th, 2010.
Everybody dance now!!

Page 55: August 6th, 2010.
So I did a background check on all the characters present, just to make sure, but literally ALL of them are coordinators. Some are also trainers (either primarily or otherwise), but all of them are comfortable on the the contest floor. All of them, that is except for Sandy, who at best only participated in one or two contests just to try them out. And then she lost miserably. Yeah...

So do appeals honestly beat the MC? If so, then I guess Sandy should just stand back and enjoy the show from here on out.

At any rate, it's time to give some credit now. I didn't get the idea to use appeals all by myself. Athens025 was the one to suggest the idea to me, but he wouldn't let me credit him for it, since he says he got the idea from MarkyVigoroth. So I'm just going to credit you both. The end.

Page 56: August 6th, 2010.
I guess he was only using a small portion of his power when he tried to blast Chipai earlier...

Page 57: August 7th, 2010.
Time for the villainous monologue.

Page 58: August 7th, 2010.
Maybe our heroes should take a few steps back, instead of staring straight into the pretty bright lights, no?

Page 59: August 7th, 2010.
Oh hey look! It's Godzilla! Wrecking parties he wasn't invited to since 1954.

I reckon this also wasn't supposed to happen...

Page 60: August 8th, 2010.
Don't mess with Godzilla.

Page 61: August 8th, 2010.
According to this Junction is able to make those cards magically appear as if out of nowhere. So there ya go.

Page 62: August 9th, 2010.
If at first you don't succeed...

Page 63: August 10th, 2010.
Oh look, more cameos!

We have: Dottie, Nox, Ozzie, Velvet, Sepia, Roby, Amelie, Mono (Nox's Duskull), Emma (Roby's Vulpix), Nomad (Iron Maiden's Scizor), Beowulf (Rains's Lucario), Leon (Topaz's Luxray), Jakk (Tuler's Raichu) and of course Peanut (Dottie's adorable Meowth).

Page 64: August 10th, 2010.
Oh yeah...

Page 65: August 11th, 2010.
Isaac: "From now on you shall all address me as 'Isaac King, DARKRAI SLAYER'!"

Disclaimer: If Pokemon death offends you, remember that this is just the MC's clone. The real thing is up in the attic. I imagine that whatever happens to that one determines its ultimate fate. Ergo, you should go read the entries made by the finalists and spectators who went there. They're awesome anyway. ;)

Page 66: August 11th, 2010.
And the realities come crashing together. Got some cameos of the entries drawn by my various opponents in panel 3. Sandy's in for quite a head ache.

Page 67: August 11th, 2010.
Athens is doing pretty good, considering he lost a kidney and possibly a lung back there.

Page 68: August 12th, 2010.
Yikes... words... Lots and lots of them.

Page 69: August 12th, 2010.
Multiple realities, illusions, manifestations of the future, little boys that may or may not be real... Sandy expertly characterizes them all as "unreal stuff".

Yeah...

Anyway, just to clear things up once and for all: Astral Feraligatr guy was not actually Nile. It was Candy's funked up Future Sight, which took Nile's shape (Nile might or might not evolve in SoL). Nile, even in his evolved form, would have lost miserably against the MC. XD The Future Sight was more powerful than usual because it had taken so long to charge. Candy being stuck in limbo still counts as charging in my interpretation.

Page 70: August 12th, 2010.
I'm not sure if this hospital bed is the mobile kind. I'm also not sure if someone like BD should be moved, or even if he'd be well enough to come off the IC after four days, but oh well... works for the story, I suppose.

Page 71: August 13th, 2010.
And that's it. Athens (the person, not the character) has been saying for ages how he'd like to end the BT with a large hospital party, and I thought that was a pretty good idea. So many people got injured during this OCT, it's just unbelievable.

And thus I end this round with a scribbly cameo pages, as per time-honored tradition.

So anyway, I completed an OCT! It feels quite special, I must say. It's been almost a year, and now it's over. 6 rounds, 251 pages (counting all the long ones as one page) and a lot of hours working on all of that. If I've learned anything from this OCT, it's that I can pump out comic pages a lot faster than I originally thought I could. That's... kind of surreal, actually... But the best part is still that I met a lot of cool new folks. Thank you all for not only reading my entries, but also writing your own. I've enjoyed them a lot!

This probably wasn't my best round ever, but I hope you guys enjoyed it nonetheless. I still plan to do a few small BT related projects, so keep an eye out for those, and have a good day! :)
