Frequently Asked Questions
Hey! Got a question? It may just get added to the FAQ! ^__^

- Last updated on: May 15th, 2010.

Q: Hey, what will happen in SoL next? Could you tell me some of the plot?
A: Now that would be a spoiler, wouldn't it? ;)

Q: How do you make your comics and pictures?
A: Well, I have a bunch of tutorials just for you! Check them out! If you can't find what you need there, maybe you could request a new tutorial. They take a while to make, though.

Q: I love Stuff of Legends, but what does SoL mean?
A: Erm, actually, the comic is called 'Stuff of Legend', not 'Stuff of Legends' and SoL is just an abbreviation for Stuff of Legend.

Q: Is Uncia a Pokémon?
A: Nope, Uncia is not a Pokémon. He's just a character I made up.

Q: Do you take requests? 'Cause I'd really like you to draw *insert random stuff here*!
A: Not at the moment, sorry. The comic, phd research and real life in general pretty much swallow up all of my time. If I ever start taking requests again, I'll be sure to announce it on the front page, so please keep an eye out for it.

Q: SoL, does that mean 'Stuff of Legend'?
A: Erm, yes... It does. :)

Q: Can I make you some fanart?
A: Did you perhaps miss the part where I said 'I loooove fanart'? Of course you can make me some fanart! You never, ever need to ask me that!! ^__^
You deserve a hug!

Q: What does SoL mean?
A: ...
It means Stuff of Legend...

Q: Why does SoL's story take so long? They're STILL fighting!!
A: Yeah well... That's my bad... I'm painfully aware of the fact that the story is slow. It's poor planning on one part and I also have the uncontrollable urge to cram too many plot twists into the story. I guess I just need to get everything straight for myself. If it's any consollation to you, I DO have the plot figured out... pretty far in advance...
Please note that I've recently moved to updating the comic with two pages a week, instead of just one. I hope still will sufficiently speed up the plot. Never mind, we're back to single-page updates again.

Q: Yo! Your site is kewl!! XD Just got 1 question 4 u what does SoL stand for?? ThnX!!
A: ................................... *bans*

Q: You made a typo!
A: What? Where? (Yes, I AM interested in any typo's you may be able to spot on my site. Oh, and grammar. I need help with that too, since English is not my native language.)

Q: Why do your Pokémon look so muscular?
A: I guess it's just my style. I try to draw them with realistic muscles and that sort of makes them look muscular. I don't do it on purpose. Well, not usually anyway. Nile is supposed to be muscular. He's suffering from a superhero-complex...

Q: Do you have a DA account?
A: Actually, yes I do. I've been asked this question so many times, that I decided to go ahead and get one. Just to see what all the fuss is about. Here's the link: Blue-Uncia on DA.

Q: Can I be in SoL as a Pokémon / trainer / cameo? Will you organize a contest so people can enter and get their character's to appear in your comic?
A: There already has been such a contest the summer of 2008, and I'm afraid that there probably won't be a contest like that again any time soon. If I do organize another contest, there probably won't be any cameo prizes. I will also not randomly insert cameos into SoL, as it already has a pretty big and confusing cast. I would most likely reserve any future cameos for my friends only.

Q: I've made a website! Will you please affiliate with me?
A: Please take a look at my Affiliation rules and see if you qualify. I usually don't just affiliate with new websites. Please don't be offended, but I have to really like your website and I need to know for sure whether or not you'll be able to keep your website going. However, I'm nearly always willing to link to your website on my regular links page. We can always discuss affiliation later, when you've proven to be able to keep your site running.

Q: I have your bucket!!
A:...... But, I'll get it back... right?

Q: Could you please make a poll about *insert random subject here*?
A: I don't like running more than one poll at the same time. So first check the polls page to see if there is an active poll. If there is, you'll have to wait until that poll is over. If there is no active poll, that probably means I've run out of ideas for polls myself, and you're welcome to suggest a poll.

Q: Hey!! That guy has stolen your artwork!!
A: Hmmmm... This is the internet. You can't stop art thieves from taking your work, unless you don't upload it at all. It's ok, most people don't realize that they are actually stealing. And I'm not that concerned about it. Of course, that doesn't mean I like it or approve of it. It's just something you can't stop from happening, especially when your site is getting more popular. Blue Uncia's images are for the most part, free to use. This doesn't mean I don't have copyrights over my work. It just means that I don't mind if other people use it for their own sites. However, I would like some credit for it. And I do NOT approve of people who claim they made my art themselves.
So if you see someone using my art and claiming that they made it themselves, don't freak out. Just contact me and give me the relevant url. I'll take care of the rest, so there is no need to get involved. If it's just someone who is using my work, without giving me credit, then don't bother doing anything at all. Even though I prefer getting credit for my work, I will not go after people for not doing so. Most of the time, these people are just kids, who didn't know they were supposed to give credit...

ART THIEVES, BEWARE. Even if you can't see it, I have watermarked my artwork. I can prove art theft using both the watermarks and the original Photoshop files I have on my computer. So please be smart, and do not attempt to claim you made my drawings. I do not want to have to secure my website against downloading images, but I can and I will if I must. Thank you. :)

Q: Hey!! That guy has stolen your source code!!
A: He has? (Wait, you check this stuff?) Well, that's a pretty stupid thing to do... My source code sucks...
Ok seriously, there are a lot of people out there who spend ages building their websites and who are very, VERY proud of their source codes. It's their pride and joy and it really ticks them off when you copy it from them. Don't get me wrong, I totally understand that. I've spent quite a long time building my own site and I love it to bits, even though it is really... crap... So if somebody, who didn't bother to learn html properly, comes along and presses the old ctrl+V-ctrl+C-combo, I understand if that ticks off the original webmaster. So they will often write menacing messages about how they own the copyrights over their source codes and how they will hunt you down like a dog if you ever DARE to even look at it.
I'll be honest though... I've peeked at a lot of sources codes. I don't copy them at all. I just do it to see how other people have tackled certain problems. It's very enlightening and personally, I think people should take it as a compliment when others want to see their source codes. It means they like what you've done, right? And let me just repeat what I've said before: this is the internet. You CANNOT stop people from taking things they like. If you don't want people to copy your source codes, then DO NOT upload your website. I know that would be a shame, so the only other sollution is to just accept it. People will take your stuff.
If you happen see someone using Blue Uncia's source code, you don't have to do anything about it. Stealing is wrong, but if that person was dumb enough to take my crappy codes, while there are tons of better sites out there to steal from, he or she deserves my codes. ;)

Q: I STILL have your bucket!!
A: Join the club... ^__^

Q: It's Saturday... Why haven't you updated yet?
A: Uhm... Well, it might have something to do with timezones... And you should also know that I don't jump out of bed as soon as I wake up, only to update the site. First I sleep in (a little), then I have breakfast (relaxed). After that I do my chores in the house and only THEN do I boot up my compter to upload a new comic. If you live in Holland too, you can expect the new comic to be up at about 11:00 or 12:00 AM. If you happen to live somewhere else, I suggest that you either figure out what timezone you're in and calculate when the comic will be up, or just check back regularly. You can also just come back on Sundays.

Q: Your OCs are a little confusing to me. There are so many of them! Which ones live in the same world and get to interact?
A: I realize that my OCs may be a bit overwhelming. I have quite a few of them, which is why I wrote this guide to help you make sense of everything. I will regularly update this guide, so that you can always find the latest information.

Q: I e-mailed you a week ago, but you haven't answered. Did you even read it?
A: Replying to messages and e-mails has become a bit of a chore for me lately. I don't always get around to it, due to massive time restraints. If I haven't answered your messages, please don't think that I'm trying to be rude. I just haven't gotten around to replying to you. Especially if your message is long and complex, I prefer to spend some time thinking about my replies before I answer. This doesn't just go for e-mails, but also for messages on forums and on dA. I hope you understand.

Q: What is 'Amcornos'?
A: Amcornos is the title of the webcomic I'd like to write one day, after I finish SoL. I'm starting to think that'll be a long time from now, though. XD

Q: I noticed that you sometimes post uncolored SoL pages. I would like to offer my help and color them for you.
A: You know, I'm surprised at how often people make this offer. It's really flattering and I'm happy to have such kind and helpful readers. It means a lot to me. That said, I prefer to work on SoL by myself. I have several reasons for this, and I won't bore you with them here. But still, thanks a lot for the offer. :)
